From mockup to roadside.

From mockup to roadside.

Thirty-one metres of site hoarding for Kearby Homes. Designed around the measured frontage, prepared sheet by sheet, and brought to life on site.

Foundry Court, Ripon · Installed hoarding

The project

Kearby Homes needed the boundary of its 13-home Foundry Court development to introduce the homes before visitors could step inside. I designed three runs of hoarding for the road frontage, stepped footpath and entrance, combining sales information, architectural imagery and a map of Ripon.

Each position had a different job: a clear sales message for passing traffic, a rhythm of imagery and branding for people walking past, and local context at the entrance. The colours, typography and compositions carry the development’s identity across the full site.

The approach

I worked from the surveyed board dimensions and built each composition around standard 1,220 × 2,440 mm print sheets. The measured elevations set out the sheet positions, painted margins and joins, so the artwork kept its proportions across bays of different widths.

That meant planning the details before print: centring a 3,660 mm image across a 4,330 mm bay, leaving 335 mm of painted board either side; stacking the map’s two sheets horizontally to keep the join clear of its logo; and specifying an 80 mm trim on the final kitchen panel for the 4,800 mm frontage.

Photomontages showed the intended composition in context. A separate dimensional record and sheet schedule translated it into production: six artworks, fourteen print files and seventeen printed sheets across nine boards.

From design to installation

The mockups and installed photographs show how the layouts carried through to the finished hoarding. The photographs are taken from different viewpoints; the measured artwork determined the final sizes and placement. Select any image to see it in full.

01 · Road frontage

A compact sales panel sits beside the continuous kitchen image. The artwork was divided across four portrait sheets, with the final edge trim planned into the fit.

02 · Stepped footpath

Five bays alternate imagery, branding and sales information. Centred panels and painted margins keep the compositions balanced as the frontage changes width and level.

03 · Site entrance

The sales panel faces the approach and the illustrated Ripon map marks the entrance. Its horizontal sheet join keeps the centred logo and tagline intact.

The result

A coordinated outdoor presence across 31.07 metres of frontage, with the finished boards closely following the mockups. The work brought creative direction and production detail together, from the first composition to artwork prepared for the site’s exact dimensions.
