ASOS flipbook.
Experimental project
I was inspired by the image below of a craft fashion flip-book and wanted to see if I could animate this and bring to life real product-page imagery in a fun and interesting way.

The approach
I built one consistent character sheet from a set of my own selfies in Gemini 2.0, then extracted each outfit straight off real ASOS product pages and re-dressed it onto that character. Seedance 2.0 animated the switch between outfits, frame by frame with two image references.

The workflow
Testing outfit consistency across models in GPT Image 2, Gemini Pro /2.0 and Seedance 2.0 before landing on the combination that held.
The result
A looping animation that turns static product photography into scroll-stopping motion. The real value was in the process. This experiment surfaced key learnings on outfit curation, fit consistency, and prompting a specific animation style across multiple subjects. With more iterations, the character started to look different and the clothing would change completely. I didn't catch how far some of the products had drifted from the original ASOS listing until I was too far in to start over.
Here's a version that didn't work
It didn't come out exactly how I wanted. Small mismatches against the ASOS listing were easy to miss mid-build and only showed up once everything was assembled. Next time: one character at a time, checking outfit accuracy against the source earlier rather than at the end, and choosing pieces that interchange more easily from the start. I had fun making it.
